Born and breed on a farm in Ngatea, Spid (nickname) began his journey as an electrician straight out of school, starting with an apprenticeship in the residential sector. After gaining valuable hands-on experience, he joined Caldwell & Levesque in Auckland, where he led major commercial fit-outs across the city.
In these roles, Spid managed large teams of electricians and worked closely with business owners, designers, builders, and other trades to deliver high-quality results tailored to each project’s needs. His leadership, technical skill, and collaborative approach continue to define his work today.
In his mid-20s, Spid made a bold career shift and became a professional photographer—an experience that gave him deep insight into the art and science of lighting. Through years behind the camera, he mastered how light influences mood, space, and design.
Today, he brings that unique perspective back into the electrical world, believing that lighting is one of the most powerful tools in shaping how a space looks and feels. Spid works closely with clients to craft lighting designs that are both visually striking and highly functional—transforming everyday environments into something exceptional.
